Twilight Zone

With vivid hues and graphic designs, Kay McIntyre’s looks of the moment have a cinematic side.

An air of mystery and drama prevails in Gothic Fantasy, a collection of out-of-this-world looks seen exclusively on these pages. Crafted by Kay McIntyre, who nabbed the Scottish Hairdresser of the Year title at the 2012 British Hairdressing Awards for the body of work, the portfolio was inspired by the Twilight Saga as well as the works of film director Tim Burton. “Strong silhouettes are balanced with sensual textures, while the shadowy mood lets the animated textures and haircolor take center stage,” says McIntyre, owner and creative director of a namesake, independent salon group in the heart of Scotland and a British Hairdressing Awards Hall of Fame member. “The hair has a great combination of attitude and softness, which I think sums up what most women desire these days.”
