Wella and OPI Host Cut-A-Thon for Charity

Wella’s Hairdressers at Heart joined forces with OPI on November 16 to host their inaugural Cut-A-Thon event at Wella Studio in Woodland Hills.  Hairdressers at Heart is a program that was created to help stylists develop their talents throughout their career, with the goal of being a vital partner to salons, empowering individual stylists and the entire industry.

“Hairdressers at Heart’s mission is rooted in supporting the professional education of beauty and salon professionals everywhere, as well as empowering the work they do to improve and enrich their communities,” said Christina Soffin, Director of North American Education Operations and Studios. “With our first-ever Hairdressers at Heart Cut-A-Thon, we get to bring the worlds of professional beauty and charity together, raising funds to help young people dealing with the struggles of homelessness, while also shining a light on this important issue.”

OPI educators and industry talent, including Sonya Dove, Stephen Moody, Aubrey Loots and Diego Raviglione provided attendees and donors with nail and hair services, including manicures, blowouts, cuts and color from 2 to 9 p.m. All services were provided for suggested donations, with proceeds going towards Safe Place for Youth (S.P.Y.)—a Los Angeles-based non-profit organization that provides lasting solutions for young people who are at risk for being homeless.

“It was such a pleasure to be a part of the Hairdressers at Heart Cut-A-Thon benefitting Safe Place for Youth,” said Sonya Dove, Global Ambassador for Wella. “It was fun spending time with friends from the industry and meeting new people as well, creating new friendships.”

The event marked the first charitable event for Wella’s Hairdressers at Heart as part of the Coty family since its recent acquisition, making Coty the third-largest beauty company in the world.
“The first-ever Hairdressers at Heart Cut-A-Thon is extremely important to all of us at Wella, OPI and Coty because it is the first time we can come together as brand partners to support a great organization like SPY,” said Sal Mauceri, Senior Vice President of North America Beauty and Global Nail at Coty Beauty. “We look forward to our continued charitable efforts in the future as part of the Coty family.”
