Alexandre de Paris Beauty Spa Centre in Fairfax, VA, hosted a three-day Hair Makeover Charity Event that provided complimentary haircuts and makeovers to job-seekers preparing for interviews and individuals re-entering the workforce. More than 600 people attended the event. In addition, the spa collected donations to support Dress for Success, a nonprofit charity organization that provides professional clothing, mentoring support and career training to low-income women. "Due to the current economic downturn, people are finding it increasingly difficult to make ends meet," says Alexandre de Paris, owner of his eponymous salon. "We feel that we can use our expertise to help people improve their images, feel hopeful and remain positive about themselves." —N.P.
