Your Front Row at Fashion Week

As this issue went to press, Mercedes-Benz Fall/Winter 2008 Fashion Week in New York City was winding down, but we've just started talking about spring/summer 2008 in the pages of this magazine. All week long I've been at the shows, watching models walk the runway in coats and hats, woolen skirts and tights. Then I come back to the office to edit film from the spring/summer shows. Sometimes it's difficult to remember who's on first, but that's the wacky world of fashion, which is always six months ahead. In this issue, we've got a big surprise for all you fashionistas out there, who would love nothing more than to be backstage at the shows in New York City, Paris, Milan and London. Turn to page 32, where you'll find Front Row, a DVD of spring/summer '08 runway hair trends courtesy of Redken. It's the next best thing to being at the shows yourself. Guido Palau, world-renowned hairstylist and Redken creative consultant, worked with the industry's most prestigious fashion houses, including Prada, Marc Jacobs, Lanvin and Louis Vuitton, to create the cutting-edge hairstyles we saw on the runway. MTV's SuChin Pak went behind the scenes with Guido and his team to capture the amazing backstage energy. As part of the MTV News Team, Pak has interviewed everyone from Diddy to Justin Timberlake and co-hosted the MTV Video Music Awards. Join her as she takes you backstage at some of the most important shows this season. Then learn how to recreate these high-fashion looks with the special Fashion Cut feature. My advice: Take Front Row home if you want to watch it at your leisure or inspire clients by playing it in your reception area. They're bound to be impressed. —Marianne Dougherty, editor in chief, [email protected]
