How to Become a Redken Shades EQ Specialist

Whether you are a beginner, experienced or just dabbling in Redken Shades EQ, there is room for everyone to become a true Specialist. Beginning June 21, a four-phase virtual Pillar Program will teach you everything you need to know—from the basics to the advanced—answer your burning questions, and allow you to experiment with formulations and applications. Plus, you’ll get to experience Redken education from the comfort of your home or salon.

Redken Artists Jerric Fruits and Twylla Jane will lead the educational journey, which is much more than your average seminar-style lecture, thanks to hands-on classes and intimate breakout rooms led by coaches.

“Shades EQ has been around for 25 years, which means that for 25 years Redken Artists and stylists have tried everything with this color,” says Fruits. “We’re wrapping all of that information into these four days—from color correction to creative techniques to toning, and all the tips and tricks that go along with that.”

In addition to the possibilities Shades EQ offers from a creative standpoint, you’ll also learn how Shades EQ can benefit your bottom line. “Financially, Shades EQ has helped me up my ticket prices,” says Jane. “There are so many different things you can do and so many add-on services. For instance, we all have those guests who are looking for something different every time they come in, and when you use Shades EQ it fades on tone over time, so you can give them that. Also, being able to offer new clients a demi-permanent that truly does not lift so that they aren’t getting brassy results between services, plus the conditioning properties, is the best.”

The program will also clarify how to use Clear and how it can change up the colors you’re used to. Stylists will use mannequin heads but also swatches to dye out different tones, making it like a “fun science-art class,” Fruits says.

Stylists will leave inspired and empowered, armed with a totally different type of color palette that will help them break out of what they’re used to and give guests something different from other stylists in the salon or in the area.
