AVEDA How-To: Men's Sleek Style

Turn Up The Volume

Allen Ruiz, Aveda Global Artistic Director, Hair Styling, created off-the-face volume for the Public School Autumn/Winter 2016 show at Milk Studios in New York City.

The Public School Autumn/Winter 2016 collection featured casually cool clothes presented on a dynamic runway that stretched from within Milk Studios, to the sidewalks of the Meatpacking District in New York City. Allen Ruiz, Aveda Global Creative Director, Hair Styling, created a full, sleek hair style, speaking to the laid-back aesthetic.

“We wanted each model to have a cool look, no matter their length of hair,” Ruiz said. “The hair was a defined style, full of volume and attitude. The fullness was effortlessly slicked back with pieces artfully falling loose.”

HOW TO GET THE LOOK

Step 1: Saturate wet hair with Aveda Men Pure-Formance Firm Hold Gel before blow-drying.

Step 2: Blow-dry hair back, away from face to create voluminous natural texture. Focus on creating a poofed shape starting at the roots.

Step 3: Begin to tone down the fullness by emulsifying a coin-size dollop of Aveda Men Pure-Formance Pomade in hands.

Step 4: Pull hands through the hair, starting from the forehead going toward the back to create definition and the desired final look.
