Behind the Scenes: Guido's Look for Alexander McQueen S/S 2016.

Fashion Week’s mane man, Guido, gives us the exclusive, behind-the-scenes look at the hair he constructed for Alexander McQueen S/S 2016.

Runway authority and Redken Global Creative Director, Guido, wanted to create a look that balanced both designer Sarah Burton’s desire for something that read very touchable and real while still finding a way to make it very McQueen. “This idea of sewing the hair feels very romantic, but a bit futuristic and extreme in a way,” says Guido. “I added some guts and texture to the hair, and then knotted the hair in a bit of thread, and then pulled it looser, so it’s very easy and natural. Then, I just kept sewing it to create these loose, twisted loops down the length of the hair. All of the mistakes are sewn in, and they’re part of what makes the look so beautiful.” Here’s how to get the look:

Step 1 Spray Redken One United all-in-one multi-benefit treatment all over damp hair and comb through.
Step 2 Roughly blow dry hair so it is smooth and slightly straight.
Step 3 Spray Redken Wind Blown 05 dry finishing spray all over hair to enhance texture.
Step 4 Take small sections of hair, starting from the top, and thread the hair so that it loops around itself and crosses over to the other side.
Step 5 Continue threading small sections of hair down the full length of the hair.
Step 6 Pull out random wispy pieces of hair from the loops so it’s a bit imperfect
