Fashion Week How-To: Playful, Relaxed Waves

Sandy Liang's SS18 collection offered an unexpected, playful and whimsical contrast to the high-fashion side of New York Fashion Week. The collection included floral embellishments, fur-lined leather jackets and small, flirty cutouts.

Celebrity hairstylist Danilo (@officialdaniolhair) played his part by bringing out the individuality and effortless style of each model, while keeping their looks contemporary. "We looked at the models as they walked in and created an effortless finish to their hair—there were waves, ponytails, varying parts and straight looks on the models," says Danilo. "The biggest effort was to make it look like the models didn’t put in too much effort at all.”

Get the Waved Look:

  • Mist amika Bombshell Blowout Spray from the roots to the ends of the hair, and then apply amika Leave in Cream, to give the hair structure.
  • Separate the hair into five or six sections. With each segment, split the section into two and twist together. Secure the end with a pin.
  • Run amika The Confidante Moisture Maintenance Styler through each section and let cool, to create smooth waves.
  • Remove from clips, and spray amika Un.Done Texture Spray or Perk Up Dry Shampoo to add texture and “undo” any waves that look too intentional.
