THE LOOK

“The painterly vision of the Vienna Secession serves as the inspiration for Carmen Marc Valvo Fall 2016, combining floral flourishes with geometric industrial accents, so I wanted to create a look that was both intricate and romantic.” – Ted Gibson, Celebrity Stylist and Owner of Ted Gibson Salon for L'Oréal Professionnel

STYLING TIPS – GIRLS

STEP 1  First spray L'Oréal Professionnel Densitè on roots to ends for some texture.

STEP 2  Then blow dry hair smooth with no part, all blown back and away from the face.

STEP 3  Next using a 1 1/2 inch large iron, take horizontal sections and curl all the hair away from the face.

STEP 4  Once all the hair has been curled, section out the hair into 3 sections.

STEP 5  First section from the recessions of the head to the crown, in a slightly triangular section and neatly clip away to revisit. Then take a horizontal section below the occipital bone and neatly clip away to revisit.

STEP 6  Then working with the remaining middle section, back comb the hair using vertical sections about an inch of back comb at the scalp and all around the head. Lightly spray with L'Oréal Professionnel Extreme Lacquer hairspray

STEP 7  Starting with the right side, gently comb smoothing hair back towards the center to begin a French twist. Pin upward to the center back of the head, then pin downward at top to secure.

STEP 8  Next, let down the section below the occipital. Bring head all the way back to ensure tightness. Gathering the remaining hair, twist the hair upright and anchor on along the line of the previously pinned bobby pins.

STEP 9  Smooth any lines and spray with L'Oréal Professionnel Extreme Lacquer hairspray.

STEP 10   Smooth back left side (same as right), twist upward and inward creating the last portion of the French twist securing with hairpins.

STEP 11  Take down the remaining triangle section at the top of the head. Back comb using horizontal sections for height and some texture. All the hair should be going away from the face.

STEP 12  Gently tousle the top of the hair for texture.

STEP 13  Twist end of hair down towards the right tucking into the top of the French twist. Give it a little more texture on the top for a modern finish. Then add the headband.
