After owning and operating a full-service salon in Iowa, Dean Banowetz moved to Los Angeles and landed a job on the nationally syndicated series Extra in February 2000, serving as hairstylist to the show's host - Leeza Gibbons.
In 2002, he joined the little-known show, American Idol: Search for a Superstar, where he styled hair for Ryan Seacrest and all of the contestants. Since then, he has worked on six seasons of American Idol, plus Dancing With The Stars and The X Factor USA.
