Leadership Stories: George Schaeffer

When it comes to professional beauty industry leaders, no list would be complete without George Schaeffer, Founder of OPI and President and CEO of Aloxxi.

Schaeffer's unique success story is an inspiration to anyone with an entrepreneurial dream.  He began his professional journey in the beauty industry as the owner of a small dental supply company that he purchased in 1981. Shortly after taking over the company,  Schaeffer's team created an acrylic system that was sold door-to-door to local nail salons. They soon closed the dental sales and focused entirely on nail products, changing the company name to OPI Products Inc.; the rest being, as they say, history (and a game changer for the professional nail industry).

OPI was sold to Coty in 2010. Fast-forward to today and Schaeffer is busier than ever as President and CEO of his Aloxxi hair color brand, working to change the way that consumers and professionals alike view color in the salon. American Salon's  VP of Digital Gordon Miller was honored to meet up with Schaeffer for a Leadership Stories interview at the 2015 Cosmoprof North America event in Las Vegas.
