As a painter, Maybe Saylor (@maybesaylor) had a knack for making contrasting colors complementary. She began applying that skill to hair, and was discovered on Instagram by BaBylissPRO when a client posted a picture of her new hue. Today, Saylor continues to push creative boundaries with Rusk’s palette as a member of the BaBylissPRO education team. Her ultimate dream? To create Maybe Mermaids worldwide.
In seventh grade, my bestie let me cut her long hair into a chin-length bob. I can’t explain the feelings that washed over me when she beamed in the mirror. I knew beauty was my business.
I went to Baldwin Beauty School in Austin, TX. Today, I work at Bee Royal Salon in Bastrop, TX.
CLAIM TO FAME
I’m known for creating vivid-colored hair, combining contrasting colors in a complementary way. I’m honored be part of the BaBylissPRO team that produced the images for the America’s Beauty Show 2018 campaign, including goddess of hair Ann Bray.
I believe everyone has something to teach you. I try to draw a little inspiration from everyone I meet and everywhere I go.
I dream of making Maybe Mermaids all over this planet. I’d love to go overseas for a hair show!
I’m proud to have Luis Alvarez (BaBylissPRO) and Nicole Fowler (Aquage) to guide me. They’ve been with me since I joined the BaBylissPRO family.
I love mixing Rusk Deepshine Color Care Lock-in treatment with Rusk Designer Collection Shining Sheen and Movement Myst to leave the hair as glossy as glass. I’m living for the new Rusk Deepshine PlatinumX line for blondes.
WORDS OF WISDOM
Frida Kahlo said, “Painting completed my life.”- If you aren’t chasing your passions and if your career isn’t making you feel on top of the world, focus on what does.
I’ll be at the Premiere Orlando Show and I have a class scheduled at Armstrong McCall in Bryan, TX for mermaid color application techniques. I’m ready for anything that comes my way!
