Colorado Salon Recognized For Prioritizing Work-Life Balance

Crown Extension Studio has received the "Mental Wellness Award" from Salon & Spa Specialty Insurance (SASSI), which chose the Colorado Springs salon for its emphasis on employee well-being through benefits including extended time off.

SASSI (formerly Hairdressers Agency), which provides insurance coverage to the beauty industry, chose the winning salon as part of its "Salon Stars: Mental Wellness Champions Competition," designed to highlight the problem of burnout and turnover in the beauty industry by recognizing businesses that prioritize staff well-being.

Crown Extension Studio’s submission led the pack through its benefits that include 3.5-day weekends and Saturdays off.

"We recognize that support for mental health and wellness is critical to a positive and successful work environment," says Crown's CEO, Jenna Bowden, "and we instituted policies such as extended weekends, flexible time off, and direct primary care health benefits to accommodate that need.”

The salon offers other benefits including access to therapy, medication, and health services through free virtual or in-person sessions.

“With this contest, we wanted to highlight salons and spas that went above and beyond to support the mental health and well-being of their employees,” says SASSI senior vice president Sean Brownyard.

“The salon and spa industry is rooted in well-being, however the focus must also encompass salon and spa employees to create a sustainable program. In Crown Extension Studio’s submission, we saw a commendable commitment to creating a healthy workplace for both clients and employees that sets an example for the industry.”
