Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Spring 2014 NYC: Timo Weiland

"Beach meets city" was the theme of backstage beauty for Timo Weiland's collection, and to achieve seaside texture, Joseph DiMaggio mixed L'Oreal Professionnel True Grip Texturizing Powder and Volumetry Root Spray and sprayed on hair from roots to ends. “The textured hair reflects a chicness of the combination between a free-spirited beach attitude with city streets,” DiMaggio said. Next, hair was tightly twisted into a low ponytail and heated with a flat iron to set in texture. It was then secured into a bun to cool.

After allowing the bun to set, DiMaggio loosened hair by lightly tousling sections loose with fingers. He then sprayed Fresh Dust dry shampoo to create that just-off-the-beach look. To achieve a sleek style, he smoothed down the front and tucked behind the ears, and finished the style with Infinium 3 hairspray. Also helping to get the look was a One Styling Epic Slim Flatiron, as well as a Legacy Pro Dryer, which DiMaggio said helped take the weight out of this urban style.

For nails, Zoya applied two solid color looks--one in an indigo blue and the other in red. For makeup, Romero Jennings created a "barely there" effect using Mac Cosmetics with a touch of mascara at the root and a cream blush on cheeks. Jennings did not use moisturizer on the skin to achieve a matte look.
