PBA Business Forum Focused on PBA's Future while Arianna Huffington's Life Lessons Inspired All

This year’s PBA Business Forum welcomed a packed audience as PBA Executive Director Steve Sleeper spoke about PBA’s core initiatives and plans for the future. With a strong focus on the issues that matter most to the industry, PBA continues to spearhead the FICA Tip Tax Fairness Legislation, uphold the fight against industry deregulation, support beauty professionals and clients through various charitable fundraising efforts, and provide superior education on PBA’s rapidly expanding educational platform.

PBA also bid farewell to Max Wexler, PBA’s 2011-2013 Board Chair and welcomed incoming Chair Scott Buchanan, among other new appointments. New leadership terms begin September 1. To learn more about PBA volunteer leadership, visit probeauty.org/about.

Following the PBA update, 2013 keynote speaker Arianna Huffington shared with the audience her successes and failures on her way to the top of her media empire, driving the message that the definition of failure should be reevaluated, as each so-called failure is a stepping stone to success. Attendees listened intensely as her speech was relevant, relatable and impactful. Sawori Nomoto, Director of Creative and Communications at Zotos International, Inc. described Huffington’s speech as, “absolutely inspiring.” Another attendee turned to Twitter after the event and said, “I expected @ariannahuff to talk politics and media. Instead, she talked about everything I needed to hear.”

By far, Huffington's most important message was to take care of yourself and good things will follow, personally and professionally.

Attendees Gained Valuable Insight into Social Media, Business and Life at PBA's Regional Salon Summit – West Coast

As the newest addition to PBA’s Live Education, PBA’s Regional Salon Summits are drawing quite a crowd. With a solid line-up of topics and speakers, attendees gained valuable knowledge and insight into social media strategies, identifying and challenging your boundaries, life and time management, increasing profits and a government affairs discussion and update.

Attendees remained engaged throughout each of the speakers' presentations as they provided step-by-step blueprints for achieving success regarding their individual topics.

The audience was particularly engaged in Kelly Ehler’s “Social Media and Salon Business” as social media is the current and relevant marketing tool that business owners need to take advantage of. Each year, PBA will bring a new set of speakers together to provide pertinent and valuable advice and education to salon and spa owners during Summits. The final stop for the 2013 Salon Summit is Boston, MA on September 9. Don’t miss out! Register today at probeauty.org/salonsummit.

Beacon Students Learn the Business Behind Beauty from Industry Experts

The beauty industry’s best and brightest students were hand selected from cosmetology schools across the country to take part in PBA’s iconic Beacon program.
