Dyson Just Launched a Purifier That Detects Formaldehyde

In the latest instalment of "Dyson inventions we didn't know we needed"—a purifier that detects levels of formaldehyde. According to the FDA, most hair smoothing or straightening products release formaldehyde gas, a known human carcinogen as classified by the International Agency for Research on Cancer, into the air during the application process. Formaldehyde exposure can cause both short- and long-term effects that may impact your health.

Dyson's new Humidify+Cool Formaldehyde is a purifying humidifying fan created to senses and destroy potentially harmful formaldehyde. An added solid-state sensor precisely detects formaldehyde, while the catalytic filter breaks it down into two safer molecules: carbon dioxide and water.
