Get the Look: NYFW Helmut Lang F/W 2024 by Peter Do

The Helmut Lang Fall/Winter 2024 Collection by Peter Do, “Protection vs. Projection,” is a study of silhouettes created by bringing together the elements.

The lead hair stylist for Bumble and bumbleJawara, crafted two looks inspired by air and water for the design house's 2024 New York Fashion Week show.

“There’s always something in New York, where we don’t always end up looking perfect. Today, we are bringing the elements of air and water into the look, and making it a bit more dramatic," Jawara says.

"We are inspired by New Yorkers on the go, heading to different events, and the city’s unexpected elements."

Look 1: Air

For this look, hair was first dampened with Bb.Prep, before Thickening Spray is applied from root through ends.

Hair is lifted and blown out with a round brush, over-directed at the root to create volume.

Then, the bottom half of the hair is rough dried and finished with the new Thickening Dryspun Texture Spray Light for airy dimension.

To create a windswept look, a small section of hair was left out.

Creating additional drama with the front-side section, hair is further blown out in an upward motion for varied movement and is sprayed with Strong Finish Hairspray to freeze the motion in place.

Look 2: Water

To showcase the Water element, Jawara created a hair look seemingly drenched in water — a high-shine finish that mimics wet hair.

Bb.Gel was applied from root to ends, and combed back flat to the curvature of the head.

To top the look off with a shiny finish, Hairdresser’s Invisible Oil was added all over hair.
