We are Hairbrained

Over the past five years hairbrained.me (Hb) has become the most active and influential online social community of hairdressers in our industry. Frequent contributions from passionate members make Hb the place to celebrate our craft, not be sold to, but rather educated, informed and inspired.

In 2014 we launched the HbApp for Apple and Android devices, making it easier than ever to participate in and benefit from Hb’s constant and valuable member activity. Through photos, videos, blogs and discussions, Hb members sHair (no, that’s not a typo) by contributing content to inspire and mentor each other. Members discuss hot topics ranging from favorite products, tools, talent and best practices. They rely on one another for trusted, independent opinions and recommendations. The most exciting contributions of the week are featured in “The Sunday News”—our weekly email blast to Hb’s entire membership.

Through our annual Hairbrained Video Awards (HVA) held in New York City in association with IBS New York, we celebrate and support hairdressers who are capturing the art and craft of hairdressing through video. It has been called the best industry party of the year. HVA winners receive up to $5,000 in cash prizes and gain exposure that can help propel their careers to new heights.

This year we have launched our first educational event, Teach-In, which will be the event our community has been waiting for. Encouraging education without promotion, Teach-In is designed to influence and raise educational standards. Just imagine, an event purely for the love of the craft. Teach In is a 90-minute Master Jam featuring some of Hb’s most influential members from diverse backgrounds together on stage for the first time. The event will be held on both coasts in 2015. Our first was at ISSE Long Beach in January; our second will be at IBS New York on March 9.

Today Hb has a diverse membership bonded by a common desire to share passion, knowledge and art. It’s the place to find the next generation of hair heroes, as well as the wise sages who continue to mentor and share with all.
