Celebrity stylist Mara Roszak’s hair-care line RŌZ has always had star power behind it. Now, with major backing from private equity firm L Catterton, the brand is making a bigger play for the beauty mainstream.
RŌZ (pronounced “rose”) has announced the close of its latest financing round with a significant minority investment from L Catterton, along with existing investors Silas Capital and G9 Ventures. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Roszak launched the brand in 2021 after more than two decades creating red-carpet hair for A-list clients. Some of them, including Zoë Saldaña, Lily Collins, and Daisy Ridley, became investors themselves.
L Catterton's investments focus on consumer behavior and brands, such as Peloton, Equinox, Fekkai, LVMH, The Honest Company, HALOCOUTURE, and KIKO Milano.
The new round of funding will support RŌZ’s long-term growth strategy: retail expansion, a stronger salon footprint and professional education, team building, and new product development.
In the increasingly crowded world of prestige hair care, RŌZ’s model stands out with its positioning of salons and stylists as a key part of its core growth, rather than as a supplement to it.
Many luxury hair-care brands do not necessarily build sustained professional adoption. The balance of prestige market demand with stylist credibility and salon education has resonated with investors, along with the concept of brands led by founders who can authoritatively speak to both consumers and licensed beauty professionals.
"What Mara has built — a brand that has earned the broad trust of both the professional stylist community and the everyday consumer – is difficult to achieve and incredibly rare at this stage in a company’s life cycle," says L Catterton's Managing Director, Courtney Nelson.
"We are excited to partner with Mara and the RŌZ team and to help them continue to accelerate their extraordinary growth.”
The investment comes at a time when RŌZ claims double-digit retailer growth year after year, has proven product-market fit and a cult following, and has significant room to scale.
The brand debuted in 2021 with two core formulas and has since grown to an assortment of 10 styling and care products, including its newly launched Wave Texturizing Mist.
