Beauty tech developer Perfect Corp. has rolled out a first-of-its-kind Hair & Beard suite that pairs virtual try-on abilities with AI-powered hair analysis.
The move reflects a broader shift in virtual beauty tools from simple visual previews to diagnostics that can help consumers make more informed decisions about products, services, and care.
The company, known for its AI try-on and analysis tools for hair, skin, and makeup, says its expanded YouCam platform includes 11 hair and beard tools that barber and beauty businesses and retailers can add to their websites, mobile apps, or digital consultation platforms.
The virtual try-on features let users preview hair colors, styles, extensions, bangs, texture changes, volume, and beard looks in real time. The diagnostic tools classify hair type, measure length, detect frizz across four grades, and evaluate hair density by analyzing scalp exposure and hair distribution.
For businesses, the tools could help a client receive more relevant product or style recommendations; a stylist or barber prepare for a consultation; or a customer track whether a routine is improving concerns such as frizz or density over time.
For consumers, they allow “trying on” a hairstyle on a salon’s website; previewing a different beard look through a barber booking app; or getting custom product suggestions after answering questions and uploading photos.
