Nunzio Saviano, owner of an eponymous New York City salon, started posting to TikTok just this October, curious what it was all about. It was the video of himself cutting and styling curtain bangs on a client in November that took things to another level, getting over 400,000 views. With the ever-changing social landscape, it's easy to brush off the latest platform as a fad or something for younger generations only, but it's the salon owners and stylists that spend time exploring what works who benefit.
Saviano told CEW that he was late to the game with Instagram, and he wanted to explore TikTok after seeing how much time his teenage son spends on it. "It’s hard to determine the exact impact TikTok has had on the business due to COVID=19, but we have seen a newer, younger clientele booking appointments and we have received an influx of phone calls inquiring about pricing," Saviano told CEW. "I definitely feel it’s boosting momentum and awareness as my social media has increased both for the salon and myself, which is a great thing."
