Find a Sense of Southern Comfort at this Louisiana Salon

Lake Charles, Louisiana might be the last place one would expect a luxury salon, but that’s exactly what prompted Adrien Lyles to open the space. Lyles has been doing hair for 17 years—an obvious path to take after growing up with two hairdresser parents. And, while owning a salon wasn’t always a part of her original plan, one thing led to another, and Parlor House came to life. "It wasn’t until I started working with some of the most talented stylists around that I was inspired to give my clients and fellow stylists something more," Lyles says. "A space that no one in this area would expect."

At 825 Ryan Street, you’ll find a large brick building sitting on a corner lot with a custom iron sign carved by a local blacksmith and floor-to-ceiling windows showing you a glimpse into the space. Once inside, the front desk and reception area serve as the focal point of the salon—an area designed to make guests feel relaxed and at ease while awaiting the ultimate pampering experience. Beyond the reception, there’s a vast color bar, a comfortable shampoo area and hand-built styling stations that offer an overwhelming sense of comfort.

“When you walk through our doors, we want you to feel welcomed, excited and ready to be taken care of,” Lyles says. “And, when you leave, we want you to feel ready to conquer the world.” The salon has a talented team of stylists that specialize in lived-in haircolor and effortless styles. Plus, there’s an in-house aesthetician that’s ready to take care of facials, full-body waxing, skin-tightening treatments and aromatherapy.

Though opening and owning a salon wasn’t always in the cards, Lyles has learned a lot along the way. “It’s never too early or too late,” she says to anyone who has a dream of opening their own space. “Just know that there will be learning curves and learn to take them as they come, stick to your goals and always be true to who you are and what you want.”
