Sam Villa Sheds Light On 2020 Trends

I began this new year thinking about why education is so important. The years continue to pass, and education continues to be at the top of my list as a hairdresser, and as a teacher. Education, to me, is the most powerful tool that can change people, industry, trends, techniques…the world!

People may debate over the subject of whether education is the only thing that gives knowledge. Some say education is the process of gaining information about the surrounding world while knowledge is something very different. Yes, that’s right also. I believe information cannot be turned into knowledge without education. Education makes us capable of interpreting ideas, among other things.

One wish that I have is to provide education for all, no stylist left behind! I have always told myself, as a teacher, I must never cease to learn, and I also believe that as a hairdresser we must never cease to learn. Education is essential for any kind of development.

Now that I have my son, Mateo, I find myself teaching even more. You see, education is one of the basic needs of a human being.  With Mateo, I have discovered the purpose of education is to enlighten an individual and develop his/her capacity to the limit. At the moment, I am educating to distinguish between right & wrong…. Oh my, not easy, yet important.

Over the years, education has broadened my outlook on trends, it promotes the how in technique and enhances communication skills and business skills, yes even business skills. In 2020, the attention to “precision mindset” has pushed a button in the industry as tighter shapes are hitting an upswing. The modern shag has no intention of disappearing in trend as it has now pushed to a modern mullet and both shapes move towards a leaner design. Cuts today are created to evolve from the ‘fresh from the salon’ look to a more organic, lived in feel as the consumer embraces natural movement

Plain and simple, education can be used as a catalyst for change towards a better tomorrow.

As the Sam Villa Community continues to grow in 2020, we will support our community by focusing education on foundations with a laid-back approach. The beauty industry seems to be leaning towards ‘personalities,’ yet expect skill to be shown. Authenticity leads the way for the Sam Villa ArTeam as we continue to turn to what is natural, honest, and real. Our education endeavors in 2020 will expose more “realness” and practical approach that can be absorbed easily and immediately implemented at the chair.

Today, we have so many outlets for education on-line and off-line. I believe in both as a resource for learning, yet the first thing that strikes me about education is knowledge gain. Education takes what I know and changes it into something better. It helps us build opinions and have points of view. Education today can be more felt than described as it is the backbone of our industry, and a body cannot stand upright without a backbone.  Education for the hairdresser will continue to help you live your life on your feet as #SamVillaCommunity education will roar in 2020! Remember my friends, an investment in education pays the best interest in the future!
