Celebrity hairstylist Kristin Ess is the go-to gal for stars like Lucy Hale and Kelsea Ballerini, but she's also known for her budget-friendly haircare line that's sold at Target.
The line, which is full of shampoos, conditioners and sprays curated for specific hair types, was missing one major thing: an extensive collection of products for curly girls. "We didn't have curl products that were aligned with the Curly Girl Method," citing the regimen made popular by hairstylist Lorraine Massey in an interview with Allure. "There were a lot of people asking me for that, people who really need to avoid silicones and want to focus on moisture. That was the entire purpose of this collection," she added.
The new 7-piece collection includes the Moisture Rich Curl Shampoo and Conditioner, as well as the Ultra Hydrating Curl Co-Wash, Repair Mask, and Leave-In Cream.
"I don't think there's one thing for curly hair. That's been a big problem for curly girls and guys in general," she says, explaining that there are often products marketed as being "for curls" but they don't take into account different curl patterns and textures," Ess told Allure. That said, Ess plans to continue to add to the line in the coming months with multiple new products already in the pipeline.
