The Feather Bob is Spring's Hot New Hair Trend

In the '90s, girls everywhere envied Topanga Lawrence's luscious locks on Boy Meets World. Twenty years later, the show's sequel, Girl Meets World, brought a new starlet to the limelight—and a new head of hair to lust over.

Though Girl Meets World had a short lifespan on the airwaves, Rowan Blanchard—the star of the spinoff—made quite the name for herself, and her picture-perfect bob did too.

Just last week, Blanchard debuted a new feathered bob on Instagram, complements of celebrity stylist Laurie Heaps (@_hairbylaurie). Heaps says the style is "sharp, edgy 90’s babe meets French girl chic."

“The ends of a feather are slightly textured, but it keeps a curved shape that still looks blunt,” Heaps says. “This is exactly how I cut her new chin length style. Rowan is always changing and evolving and the longer bob didn't reflect who she was anymore."

To begin, Heaps cut the base line in a soft “U” shape and then used a point cutting technqiue, taking the points of her scissors and chopping into the line to soften it.

To Style:

  1. On dry hair, divide hair and prep each section with White Sands Liquid Texture Medium Styling Spray before heat styling. Mist and brush into the hair.
  2. Smooth each section with the GHD Classic 1 Inch Styler for frizz-free results.
  3. Create a deep side part and sprinkle BioSilk’s Volumizing Therapy Texturizing Powder at the roots. It is best to work this in with your fingers for instant volume and texture.
  4. Finish with Redken’s Shine Flash 02 Glistening Mist. It is a mild control hairspray and shine spray in one can.
