When Alysia Liu won Olympic gold in March while sporting trendy halo rings, the style became one of 2027's breakaway hits. Several iterations of the vertical-striped haircolor look have taken over, the latest at the Louis Vuitton fashion show in New York featuring the Cruise 2027 collection.
Renée Valerie Radoiu, director, R+COLOR Education & R+COLOR collective member, created a more undone, messy-chic version for the LV show at The Frick Collection art museum. "The color placement felt like an evolution of the halo trend," she says, "less polished and more lived-in, with a tie-dyed, grungy feel that added another layer to the overall look."
She described the finished look as a softer take on halo rings. "The placement is less defined, the lines are more diffused, and the overall effect feels more blurred and organic," Radiou says. "It feels like a natural evolution of halo color, moving into a tie-dye-inspired direction with a more undone, lived-in finish."
Radiou used R+COLOR products to achieve the look, choosing pastel and jewel tones of pink, purple, and blue. "From brightened focal areas to washes of bubblegum pink and mint green, this technique leaves plenty of room for personal expression," she says. "I’m especially drawn to the way it’s evolving beyond the classic halo shape into a more abstract, less predictable approach to color placement.
"The halo trend is such a great way to make color feel personal," Radiou says. "Whether you lean toward natural tones or more editorial shades, it offers endless opportunities for creativity and self-expression."
