Marlon Hawkins has presented his first collection as artistic director for Brooks & Brooks in London and is sharing it with with us here. The Umbra Collection earned Hawkins a nomination for London Hairdresser of the Year.
"My collection Umbra is dark but beautiful, and it allowed me to explore the spectrum of emotion and creativity. Each girl has their own identity, and this is brought to life through graphic color placement, haircuts, and their natural hair textures," Hawkins said.
Hawkins worked with street-cast women, rather than agency models, and worked with them to fully bring out their creative personalities, he said, adding that he is a hairdresser who loves to color and loves to style. He says he doesn't specialize in one thing—he specializes in hair, with a passion for creating bespoke looks for the individual.
Brooks & Brooks founders Sally and Jamie Brooks are among the most respected hairdressers in the world, with an award-winning salon in the heart of London. They have won a multitude of business and creative awards, including Sally being named British Hairdresser of the Year 2017, 2018, and again for 2020.
