How To: Non-Gender Specific Hairstyling by David Corbett

David Corbett is the owner of David Corbett Hairdressing in Bothwell, Scotland. He has been a finalist for Scottish Hairdresser of the Year and is also a finalist for 2020 British Hairdressing Awards. He is celebrating 10 years in his current property.

“The inspiration for this collection was to create something different and that there be no emphasis on gender," he says.

wolf cut

This is a short layered wolf cut. Hair was twisted in small sections when wet and dried with a diffuser to finish.

This mullet haircut was bleached and toned with Schwarzkopf Professional Chroma ID. Hair was blow dried on top with a small round brush to create movement and a larger round brush at the back.

This classic box bob with round graduation was blow dried smooth with a Denman brush.

Natural curly hair was blunt cut with graduation at the back and sides to encourage a bolder curl and diffused to dry.

One length outline with long layers was roller set on 1.5” roller and brushed out to finish.

Hair was set using a combination of folding techniques to create smooth waves of movement rather than volume.

A classic French roll was brushed through.
