Meet August's Young American Keisha Mines

Keisha Mines

After a few uninspiring jobs and starting a family, Keisha Mines took the leap and decided it was time for beauty school. She quickly found a home and her not-so-hidden talent. The latest proof that she’s got what it takes? Nabbing a Sebastian Professional What’s Next Award.

AHA MOMENT

As a child, I would create press-on nails out of Scotch Tape and add yarn braids to my dolls’ hair. My first haircut was on my younger cousin, who I thought needed a trim. Her mother was not as impressed with my work as I was. I was a creative spirit destined to be in this industry.

TRAINING DAYS

I went to the University of the District of Columbia and Norfolk State University. After having two children, I went back to college. Working tedious jobs didn’t inspire me, so I enrolled at Wards Corner Beauty Academy, and never looked back.

CLAIM TO FAME

I’m especially known for my short haircuts and styling, which led to teaching my first pixie haircutting class.

SOCIAL  BUTTERFLY

Follow me on Instagram at @lamacevisions. I post work from shoots, my pixie cuts and color. A few have gone viral!
