TIPS/TECHNIQUES:

Celebrity hairstylist Kiki Heitkotter groomed Miles Teller for his hosting debut on the premiere night of Saturday Night Live!

“Miles has amazing, thick, wavy hair that hardly needs any help looking good, but for a big night like hosting SNL we went the extra mile to make sure his hair was perfect, with help from Bumble and bumble,” said Heitkotter.

To get started, she used Bb.Tonic Primer and sprayed generously throughout towel dried hair and combed through to distribute.

“It’s a great base to layer other products over and it has tea tree and peppermint extract, so it smells nice and feels fresh and invigorating on the scalp.” says Heitkotter.

Next up she applied Don’t Blow It Thick (H)Air Styler. She used about a quarter size and rubbed it through her hands to distribute evenly through Teller’s hair.” I like to scrunch it into the hair and finger style the waves so it can air dry. If you’re short on time, throw a diffuser on your blow dryer or turn it on low to speed up the drying process.”

Finally, Heitkotter used a pomade for separation and control. She chose Sumotech and warmed about a dime-sized amount in between her palms and applied gently over the top of Miles’ hair, trying not to break up the wave as she went along. Great hold and low shine is exactly what she wanted for the finished look.

If you’re looking for a more matte finish, she suggests trying Sumoclay, or if you like some high shine, the Hairdresser's Invisible Oil UV Protective Dry Oil Finishing Spray is a must, according to Heitkotter.
