Located in Upstate New York, Saratoga Springs is well-known for its mineral springs and the Saratoga Race Course, which attracts many visitors, especially during the summer months. When the locals and out-of-towners need a break from horse racing, they visit Philippe Bevan International Salon.

When world-champion hairstylist Philippe Bevan opened his 1,500-square-foot namesake salon in 2006, he wanted it to be a place that resembled a castle in the South of France. The entire salon is done up in a shade of blue (hence its nickname, "The Blue Salon"). Even the refurbished antique furniture is blue. "I tried to bring a little aspect of France to the salon," Bevan says. "I wanted it to be a comfortable place where clients could rest and feel good."

Locals, as well as residents of New York City and Canada, are attracted to the salon because of its fashion-forward hair services and knowledgeable stylists, all of whom are trained by Bevan. Even though Bevan owns the salon, he still sees his share of clients and constantly checks on his stylists to make sure they are doing a top-notch job. He is also available for client consultations. "Every client, even those who are returning to us, receives a consultation," Bevan says. "It helps the client better understand the service they are about to receive."

In addition to its reputation for great hair services, Philippe Bevan is also known for giving back to the community and participating in charity fundraisers. Such events include the Beauty Bowl, held close to Super Bowl Sunday, when clients could come in and receive a hair, makeup and wardrobe consultation. Proceeds from the event were donated to an organization that helps victims of domestic violence. "Every time there is an event in town, we do our best to be a part of it," Bevan says. "We are just trying to bring upscale to Upstate."
