Aveda’s Ian Michael Black celebrates his love for strong color and high fashion in a new collection.

Fractal Hues—Aveda Global Artistic Director of Hair Color Ian Michael Black’s new personal portfolio—brings together design, technical hue artistry and patterns for an overall photographic aesthetic that includes bright backdrops and beautiful couture. “Approaching color in a mathematical way was key,” says Black, who used Aveda Full Spectrum Pure Pigments and Full Spectrum Deep to achieve bold hues with softening effects and dimension on more commercial hair looks. Black also drew inspiration from models Chloe Norgaard and Natalie Westling, who sashayed down the catwalks sporting bright hair shades. “Vibrant colors have never been so on-trend,” Black says.
