At the Beauty Changes Lives Gala during this year's America’s Beauty Show, Dr. Farouk Shami was awarded the Fred A. Piattoni Award for Industry Service by the Cosmetologist’s Chicago Board of Directors. Lisa Marie Garcia, Farouk Systems’ president of innovation, was on hand to receive his award.

The Fred A. Piattoni Award for Industry Service was established in 2016 after the passing of Fred Piattoni, the former executive director/show manager for Cosmetologist’s Chicago and America’s Beauty Show. For over 30 years, Dr. Shami has had a strong devotion to hairdressers and salons, as the inventor behind the first nonammonia haircolor and revolutionary products and tools under his CHI and Farouk Systems brands.

“I am honored to receive this award named after a great man whom together we shared a passion for this industry," said Dr. Shami in a statement. "It will proudly serve as daily reminder of my fond memories of Fred Piattoni, our over 30 years supporting the show and how together we have helped the hairdresser.”
