Opulent hairstyles are right at home in Versailles, a new body of work from award-winning educator and artist Sharon Blain.

Acclaimed as one the most beautiful achievements of French 18th century art, the Palace of Versailles provided beaucoup inspiration to Australian hairdresser extraordinaire Sharon Blain when she crafted her latest collection. Seen exclusively on these pages, the portfolio showcases an array of creative elements, including hair smocking, vintage waves, ’40s rolls and unusual shapes—all of which give a strong editorial sense to the hair. “From the grandeur of the stunning surroundings, haute couture gowns, refined makeup and exquisite contemporary hairstyling, this collection is a theatrical vision incorporating classical references in a modernist way,” Blain says.
