Headmasters - Antonio Corral Calero

Twenty-four hours in the life of Moroccanoil Global Creative Director Antonio Corral Calero

6 a.m. My day starts when the sun rises. I wake up and have a cup of coffee—black, no cream or sugar—then I meditate for 30 minutes and have a green juice. Afterward, I shower and get ready. I always bring a few extra shirts or jackets—I like options, especially during fashion week. 10:30 a.m. My assistant Raquel picks me up in a car and we head to the Waterfront to prep for the Jenny Packham Spring/Summer 2015 New York Fashion Week show. This is my first time leading the styling team for Jenny, so I’m excited! 11 a.m. We arrive at the space and I get right to work. I gather my team and demonstrate the look on one of the models who arrived early. I love being able to get one-on-one time with my team before the show to make sure everyone is on the same page with the look and products we’re using. Noon Media arrives to get a look at the behind-the-scenes action. I am pulled into several interviews where editors and broadcast teams delve into the Moroccanoil products we are using, my vision and how we’re executing the look for the show—a modern take on Marilyn Monroe. I love old Hollywood glamour, and the collection is such a wonderful inspiration for a gorgeous style. 12:45 p.m. I wrap up the last of my interviews, and begin putting the final touches of hairspray on models and making any last-minute modifications.
1 p.m. It’s showtime! There’s nothing more rewarding to me than seeing the models strut down the catwalk with the gorgeous curls that my team and I worked so artfully to create. Instant gratification! 1:30 p.m. That’s a wrap! Everyone has cleared out and I’m off to have a much-needed break. Raquel and I hop in a cab to grab a quick bite, relax and refuel. 3 p.m. We arrive at Studio 7 for the Delpozo hair test. I chat with the designer and creative team about the inspiration. I love to approach the hairstyle in collaboration with the entire design team. It’s important to bring their vision to life with the hair. For Delpozo, we decide on a modern and geometric style with a feminine touch. 4:15 p.m. I head home to my apartment for some R&R and to finish prep for the Delpozo show. I’ve prepped my team on the style and products we’re using so that everyone comes prepared. 7:30 p.m. I eat dinner with international editors. I like to make time to do this during fashion weeks because they have become good friends of mine, and I have been lucky to learn a lot from them. 10 p.m. Goodnight—tomorrow is another day and I can’t wait to be inspired! ✂ As told to Kristen Heinzinger
