Hot Wheels

Time-pressed geeks, gurus and entrepreneurs with "to do" lists a mile long no longer have to worry about a salon visit eating up their valuable weekend downtime, thanks to Onsite Haircuts' barbershop/beauty salon on wheels. The brainchild of Dena Kaufer, Onsite's specially outfitted Winnebagos, staffed by a team of stylists, cruise onto the campuses of some of Silicon Valley's biggest high-tech firms (Google, Yahoo! and Cisco) and supply haircuts and other grooming services to employees. "Our goal is to simplify the life of frazzled high-tech workers," says Kaufer, whose business is highly focused on customer convenience. "The company's Web site allows clients to view a calendar of upcoming visits, see open slots and book an appointment quickly and easily without any of the registration or login hassles typically encountered on the Web. And we even leave room in the schedule to accommodate walk-ins." For more information, visit —K.D.
