Barcelona's renowned history of creative art and craftsmanship made the city an appropriate site to host this year’s Global Zoom Event, Goldwell and KMS's world artistic event. The event, held October 8 to 9, drew some 3,000 beauty professionals from around the world who came to witness live competitions, trends and cutting-edge hair demonstrations.
“I can’t think of a better or more inspirational way to come together with our top clients from around the world than the Global Zoom Event," says John Moroney, vice president education and global creative director for Kao Salon Division. "It's a global gathering of some of the most creative stylists in the industry—coming together to share creativity in an inspirational city," he says.
The event kicked off with a welcome session, where Moroney and global vice president of marketing Stephan Becker discussed future product launches. Additionally, KMS announced their latest campaign— “Genderless Grooming,”— featuring three new hybrid finishing products, and Kerasilk Style, a new category of luxury styling products.

Another highlight was the Color Zoom Challenge, where 97 national finalists from 38 different countries interpreted the IN·FLUX collection. Bringing home top honors at the Color Zoom live final competition were Russia’s Maxim Sotnikov in the New Talent category, Singapore’s Dylan Tung in the Creative category and the USA’s Mio Sota in the Partner category. The winners will become a part of the Global Color Zoom Creative Team for an upcoming Color Zoom Collection.
Shane Henning, Creative Director and owner of Noddys on King in Sydney, and his team delighted the audience with his latest creations during the Artist sessions.
At the gala show, beauty pros caught a glimpse ELEMENTAL, the latest Color Zoom '18 Collection, created by the 2016 Color Zoom Challenge winners. The body of work played up equal parts rawness and refinement with tone-on-tone contrasting hues, modern minimalistic shapes and future-forward styling
