On Sunday, September 13th the Butterfly Circus (#ButterflyCircus) came to the Big Apple. The team is made up of some of the most recognizable stylists on Instagram, who collaborate to put on a unique, one-of-a-kind educational event focused on providing great business, color, and step-by-step cutting and styling education.
David and Alexis Thurston, ringleaders of the Butterfly Circus and co-owners of the Butterfly Loft Salon located in Los Angeles, created and hosted the event.
First on stage was Nina Kovner, Chief Awesomeness Empowerer at (@passionsquared), who talked about being authentic and branding yourself on social media. Larisa Love (@larisadoll) taught her famous balayage technique while Laura Kaszoni (@lalasupdos) kept the crowd laughing as she demonstrated how to create her signature bun. Jay Wesley Olson (@jaywesleyolson) brought popular Instagrammers @hairgod_zito and @bescene on stage to help explain their different color techniques. Alexis Thurston (@alexisbutterflyloft) revealed the secrets to cutting a long bob while her husband David (@davidbutterflyloft) discussed marketing and the power of social media. The show wrapped up with Jenny Strebe (@theconfessionsofahairstylist), who showed off her amazing styling skills.
