Lydia Sarfati, founder and president of Repêchage, collaborated with Belvedere on a new line of spa furniture designed to promote facial services and, subsequently, increase the bottom line. "Skincare is still the stepchild of the industry," says Sarfati, who has more than three decades of experience as an esthetician, salon owner and businesswoman. "People opt for massages and nail services because they view facials as cumbersome and time-consuming. My clients always ask 'how long?' not 'how much?'" With that in mind, Sarfati created the 3-in-1 Spa—or, as she calls it, the "ménage a spa"—a chair that makes it possible for clients to receive a manicure, pedicure and facial simultaneously (the chair also has a built-in massage function).

Keeping with her philosophy that "products should be about 100-percent functionality," Sarfati also designed the Multi-Purpose Facial Bed, which can be adjusted for facials, massages and body therapies like waxing. The bed, which is on wheels for easy portability, has electric controls for height and position and is even heated for maximum client comfort. The Lydia Sarfati Signature Collection is rounded out with a trolley on wheels, step stool, sterilizer, heated towel cabinet and stools of various heights. "This is the first time an esthetician has designed this type of product," Sarfati says. "I have experience in the day-to-day operations of the spa, so I know what's comfortable and necessary for both the client and the technician."

Up next: skincare equipment, a facial bar and a barbershoplike chair for quick treatments at the bar. "All of the products are designed to improve and increase business up to 30 percent," Sarfati explains. For more information, visit —L.M.
