Jeweled

As diamonds are forever, so is the sexy, sophisticated, retro-edge glamour behind Jewelled, Kathryn Longmuir of Ishoka's winning collection from the 2004-2005 British Hairdressing Awards-Afro Hairdresser of the Year. Fusing a traditional style of hairdressing with inspiration from lavishly precious jewelry, Longmuir used ceramic straightening irons, Wella products and different rolling techniques to craft a variety of curl shapes and sizes, deep long fringes with a modern twist, and textures ranging from high-gloss silky to dramatically funky. These styles celebrate the natural sensuality of hair—and earned Longmuir entry into the British Hairdressing Hall of Fame. —M.N.
