The Italian fashion industry is renowned for its use of luxurious materials, precise technique and expert textile production. In celebration, The Glamour of Italian Fashion 1945-2014, an exhibit at the Victoria and Albert Museum in London, offers a close look at Italy’s rich contribution to menswear and womenswear from the end of World War II to today. Running until July 27, the display will feature approximately 100 ensembles and accessories by leading Italian fashion houses, including Dolce & Gabbana, Gucci, Prada and Versace, as well as those by the next generation of talent. vam.ac.uk —L.B.

If a trip to Italy isn’t in the immediate future, vicarious pleasure is achievable with the Cire Trudon Calabre Candle. Hints of chamomile, citrus, myrrh, jasmine, musk and amber found on the Calabrian coast infuse the air as the votive burns, transporting candle connoisseurs to the romantic Mediterranean destination. ciretrudon.com —K.D.

From Kate Middleton’s magnificent lace overlay dress to the Vivienne Westwood gown made famous in Sex and the City (New Line Cinema, 2008), wedding dresses have always had a lasting impact on the world of fashion. In The Wedding Dress: The 50 Designs That Changed the Course of Bridal Fashion (Prestel, April 2014), Eleanor Thompson examines 50 iconic wedding designs that changed fashion history. Find out why Queen Victoria draped herself in white lace, starting a trend that still stands today, or how designer Paul Poiret’s knee-length dress ushered in the flapper bride, in a fascinating overview of nearly two centuries of bridal dresses. —L.B.

Toy Story

The Lego Movie, which spawned a movement to transform everyone into Lego figurines, the Danish toy maker has created a set of Lego statuettes of iconic designers—Alber Elbaz, Marc Jacobs, Donatella Versace and Karl Lagerfeld (seen here) —exclusively for Harper’s Bazaar. —K.D.
