Mercedes-Benz Fall ‘11 Fashion Week NYC: Derek Lam

At the Derek Lam show, Orlando Pita for T3 created a super-straight "schoolgirl hairstyle" that looked like a classic half-ponytail minus the elastic or barrette holding it in place. Pita blow-dried the hair with the T3 Evolution dryer, then flat-ironed it with the Fahrenheit 450 iron. He kept the style in place with plenty of T3 Orlando Pita Control hairspray. "She looks like a clean young girl going off to class," Pita said.

The makeup from Tom Pecheux for Estee Lauder was inspired by Lam's clothing, which Pecheux called "the ultimate in femininity, luxury, comfort and minimalism." He reflected the sharp silhouettes of the collection with bold shimmery charcoal eyes with a sharp metallic crease. He didn't use liner or mascara, but made the eyebrows stronger. The skin featured some contouring and a highlighter on the eyes and cheekbones. "The makeup is minimal but powerful," Pecheux said.
