Mercedes-Benz Fall 2012 Fashion Week NYC: Jenny Packham

Lead Stylist Leonardo Manetti

Film noir and total glamour came to life Monday morning at Lincoln Center as Jenny Packham's designs hit the runway with hair gorgeously styled to fit the collection by Leonardo Manetti for L'Oréal Professionnel, makeup by Talia Shobrook for Laura Mercier and a beautiful nail done by Essie.

With an early call time of 7:30am, the beauty of the hair and makeup was a wonderful way to wake up and I wouldn't have expected anything less for the Packham show as the designer is known for total glam on red carpets across Hollywood and beyond. With the theme of film noir, both Manetti and Shobrook stylized the models to be a modern version of this 1940s beauty. "Look at the women of that time, in those movies, they were confident, sexy, empowered," said Shobrook noting the look she was going for with the lips and eyes. Laura Mercier lip shades in Merlot and Coco were used for the dramatic pout.

To create the 1940s-inspired updo, Manetti divided the hair in two sections, front and back; the front was then divided further in three sections, with the middle part gathered with a triangle point, curled around a foam cylinder, and sprayed with L'Oréal Professionnel Infinium 2. Each side section was then crisscrossed over the middle section and pinned under the front curl. "I am making a point to do it nicely but not be too perfect as this is what will keep it looking modern," said Manetti.

The back section was then secured into a low pony, sprayed with L'Oréal Professionnel Volume Expand Volumizing Leave-in Spray, teased into intense volume and then wrapped in a hairnet. The final 'do was set with Infinium 3; Perfect Shimmer was also used to add gloss and more glam.

The nails were done by Essie with two coats of Wicked and topped off with one coat of Cherry Top to add dimension.
