Mercedes-Benz NYC Fashion Week Spring 2011: Jen Kao

While Chris Isaak's "Wicked Game" played in the background, models strutted their stuff on the Jen Kao runway, which was made completely of sand and included a braided pattern. This same braided pattern was also found in various other aspects of the show and the collection, including the hair. Joseph DiMaggio, lead stylist for L'Oréal Professionnel, created a look that was slicked back in the front and wind-tossed in the back. The back included a mixture of texture, knots and braids. The look was achieved by using Infinium 3 products to complement the desert- and bohemian-inspired collection of natural-colored crocheted knit and silk fabrics.

For the makeup, Sil Bruinsma for M.A.C enhanced the eye area with four layers of dark eyeliner on the eyes, pale lip balm on the lips and luminous cheeks. "It's a cool, structured look," Bruinsma says. "The models end up with pale skin and heavy dark eyes."

Nonie Creme, founding creative director of Butter London chose to give the models über-clean, plain nails. "I wanted the nails to look buffed without actually buffing them," Creme says. To get this look, Creme first applied a layer of Nail Foundation followed by Handbag Holiday Cuticle Oil on top.
