In desperate need of a color update and cut yesterday, I headed to the new Pepper Pastor Salon in Manhattan's historic Southstreet Seaport neighborhood, where co-owner and stylist extraordinaire Pepper Pastor whipped my 'do into shape. I was so impressed by her consultation, when she asked me what I liked and didn't like about my look and took me through a step-by-step process of what she wanted to do. She liked my fading demipermanent chestnut tone so she refreshed it and then added some drama, applying panels of a rich, darker brown shade underneath, using L'Oréal Professionnel Richesse demipermanent color. She then applied a clear Redken Shades EQ on top for a shiny, vibrant finish. For the cut, she gave me the lift of volume I so desired but preserved the length by leaving the front longer and taking the back up ever so slightly. She also opened up the area around my face with a side-swept bang. As she blow-dried my hair, she spent extra time showing me techniques for styling, including what brushes will work best for my hair type and how to create different styles. For the finishing touch, she sent me over to Emma, the in-house makeup artist, who freshened up my makeup for my photo op. Hope you like it as much as I do!
