The Nation's Hottest Beauty Show Is Back For Its 102nd Year

Knowledge is a powerful and life-changing factor—one that propels and empowers people to achieve great results. That thought was not lost on me while attending the 2019 Redken Symposium, an epic three-day education event featuring hands-on learning and dynamic programs that brought thousands of salon professionals to Las Vegas in January.

The good news: More great learning opportunities are on the horizon. From March 10 to 12, beauty pros can experience education at its finest at the International Beauty Show (IBS NY, ibsnewyork.com). This year’s comprehensive roster covers all the beauty bases with hands-on workshops and master classes on texture, hair extensions, techniques and trends, barbering, makeup, and business-building, among others. What’s more, beauty pros will have access to more than 500 industry exhibitors, including Truss, Petruccelli, BaBylissPro, Wahl, Morgan Taylor, Millennium Software, Connecticut Barber EXPO, Anastasia Beverly Hills and Beauty Blender at Frends Beauty, Mizutani and more.

In addition to Main Stage presentations, including the latest looks and colors from award-winning hairdresser Nick Arrojo; TK Hair Group’s Tanju Kurt’s 2021 hair show; and The Collective’s Aaron Johnson’s Static presentation on the importance of branding in the digital world, be sure to catch these inspiring segments, too:

■ Leading Ladies: A panel featuring Kris Sorbie, Tracy Hughes, Najah Aziz, Candy Shaw and Ruth Roche, who will share their secrets to success, what it takes to get
to the top and how to lead a fulfilling life.

■ Cracking the Creativity Code: Lauren and Roderick Samuels of Hair Lab Detroit discuss the tools, frameworks and concepts that are useful for discovering and generating new hair ideas for photo shoots or photo competitions.

This year’s IBS NY lineup also includes:

■ The Barbershop: Barbering heavyweights, including Julius Caesar, Reuzel’s Leen & Bertus, Carlos Estrella and Sofie Pok share barbering techniques in a pavilion-like setting.

■ The Nail Summit: Nail aficionados will have the opportunity to learn the important business, legal and wellness education they need to thrive, plus attend hands-on workshops with Jamie Shreybeck, Meryl Haton and Leslie Roste.

■ The Social Media Summit: These hands-on workshops detail the ins and outs of effectively using social media for salon businesses and personal branding.

Stay tuned for profile pieces on a few of this year's top speakers. You don't want to miss it!
