Editorial stylist Odile Gilbert
Renowned editorial stylist Odile Gilbert joined with Leonor Greyl to create the distinctive looks in the company's 2009 sumer collection. The sensual, natural hairstyles seen on model Marpessa Hennink were intended to showcase the Leonor Greyl products that are best suited for summer care: "the oils, the masks and the stying products in the form of three portraits," Gilbert says. "The products serve a dual purpose—they create beautiful styles but also nourish and protect the hair at the same time." Here, Gilbert comments on the looks she created.
Marpessa with a braid: "I was inspired by the Mediterranean beauty of Marpessa, and by her exotic side, which for me symbolizes the sun and the summer," Gilbert says. "She looks almost Tahitian in this photo, as symbolized by the tiare flower. The photo gives me the sensation of healthy and shiny hair, thanks to Huile de Palme and golden satin-smooth skin caressed with Huile de Magnolia."
Marpessa with a mask: "She looks like a Greek goddess with the lovely way she holds her head and with her hair coiled and coated with Masque Quintessence," Gilbert says. "Most women have color-treated hair and as a result, their hair must be regularly cared for and given special attention. Applying a mask will help repair, moisturize and restore the hair fiber."
Marpessa with an orchid: "She is the very image of gentle femininity with her long hair left loose," Gilbert says. "I was aiming for a styled, controlled and yet extremely natural result. I used Mousse au Lotus Volumatrice to tame, coat and treat her hair."
