Sexy Hair Celebrates Raising $1 Million for Look Good Feel Better With Special Guest Calysta Bevier

Hundreds of Sexy Hair educators from across the country met in Torrance, California, for the company's annual educational meeting on January 21-22. In addition to learning about the brand's extensive new offerings (Long Sexy Hair! Glow Getter! Sexy Hair Tools!), President and CEO Karl Heinz Pitsch highlighted the brand’s six-year partnership with Look Good Feel Better (lookgoodfeelbetter.org), whose professional beauty volunteers help women undergoing cancer treatment manage appearance-related side effects. This year, Sexy Hair employees raised more than $114,000 for the charity through walk-a-thons and warehouse sales, which brought the six-year total to more than $1 million! “You not only donated $1 million, but you donated your time, your talent and your compassion,” Pitsch said to a rapt and tearful audience, many of who have felt the effects of cancer firsthand. He said the $1 million that Sexy Hair volunteers raised represents 150,000 donated hours and will help about 50,000 women receive services in 2017.

And to underscore Sexy Hair’s commitment to their mantra, Caring Is Sexy, Pitsch introduced a very special guest, Look Good Feel Better DreamGirl and America’s Got Talent semi-finalist Calysta Bevier, who performed an emotional cover of “Titanium,” originally by David Guetta and Sia. In 2015 at just 15 years old, the aspiring singer was diagnosed with stage 3 ovarian cancer. She underwent surgery and rounds of chemo that, in addition to making her incredibly sick and losing a lot of muscle mass, made all of her then-waist-length hair fall out. Three months later she was in remission, and less than a year later she was onstage in front of millions on America’s Got Talent.

“Looking good can make you feel more like yourself,” she told the crowd before her performance. “I love supporting Look Good Feel Better.” What does the think of Sexy Hair products? “Now that my hair’s growing back, it’s so kinky and frizzy and curly that I need to use Sexy Hair products, so thank you for that!” she laughed. What’s more, she’s planning on keeping her pixie.
