Leather and lace elements commingle with glam hair in this portfolio packed with attitude from Errol Douglas.

The symbolism of placing leather, lace and fabric next to each other was an inspiring thread in the latest shoot from award-winning hairstylist Errol Douglas, member of the Order of the British Empire. “It provided a great metaphor to explore the many dimensions of a woman—that mix of bold, provocative, feminine and soft,” Douglas says. “I wanted to tell that story with the hair.” To that end, Douglas called on various techniques, including a tonging method that creates ripples—not curls—with four different types of tongs used at various stages of the design process. “Above all, I wanted classic glamour and gloss in the hairstyles’ finishes, but with enough edge to really show that personality doesn’t mean losing style and polish.” —Kelley Donahue >
