Wax to Relax

Turn your waxing services into a spa experience.

as0415-IS-FV-SEAWEEDWA_fmt_1_0.jpegRemember the look on Steve Carrell’s face in The 40-Year-Old Virgin when an esthetician applies hot wax to his chest and literally rips his hair out by the roots? Not a pretty sight, and it did nothing to position waxing as a service that anyone in his or her right mind would actually enjoy. Lydia Sarfati, founder of Repêchage, would like to change all that, which is why she’s introduced the new SeaSmooth Artisan Seaweed Wax Ritual that's designed to create a relaxing experience during a full- or half-leg wax. The ritual begins with a dry brush exfoliation to slough off dead skin cells and prevent ingrown hairs. Using a clean spatula, wax is then applied in one movement in the direction of hair growth. Sarfati recommends using 100 percent natural, unbleached Repêchage muslin strips. Next comes a massage with frozen cubes of Skin Relief Soothing Gel followed by another massage using Vita Cura Triple Action Nutri Oil to soothe and calm the skin. Finally, place a warm towel on the legs, remove and pat dry. “Think of waxing as a spa service,” says Sarfati, who suggests dimming the lights and playing relaxing music just like you would if you were giving a facial or a massage. —M.D.
